UPDATE (12/9/11):
According to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski, the Los Angeles Lakers have reached an agreement to acquire All-Star point guard Chris Paul in a three-team trade that will cost them Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. The Lakers have finalized the trade with the New Orleans Hornets and Houston Rockets. The Lakers sent Gasol to the Rockets. The Hornets receive Odom, Rockets guards Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic and forward Luis Scola, league sources said.
Houston also agreed to send a 2012 first-round pick – previously obtained from the Knicks – to New Orleans as part of the package, a source said.
SHOCKER IN PAUL DEAL…NBA OWNERS PISSED/NOT SO FAST STERN…
After Hornets GM Dell Demps dealt Chris Paul to the Lakers, for Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin and Luis Scola (which sends Gasol to the Rockets); many of the 29 owners-mostly the small town owners (own the Hornets) complained to the David Stern and co about the deal. David Stern then decided to have the NBA pull out like fresh spring break poon-tang, for what they call “basketball reasons.” David Stern blocked the trade, which to be honest he is in his right to do since the league owns the Hornets.

VIA ESPN: The meeting violates the NBA’s tampering rules because Howard’s current team, the Orlando Magic, did not know about the meeting or give the Nets permission to meet with him, according to the sources. In a telephone conversation Friday afternoon, Howard denied meeting with the Nets Thursday night, saying “there was no meeting.” According to SI.com the Magic are also filing tampering charges against the Rockets.
With the NBA’s free agency opening up “officially” in about 11 hours, the NBA rumor wire is heating up. The news I’ve heard the past few hours is shocking. Not shocking like when I heard the #idiot Matthew Barnaby getting arrested for driving drunk AGAIN, but shocking as in, how the hell is all this going to be possible and who the hell is paying these dudes?
In the past few hours, the New York Knicks have gotten their O.J Simpson memorabilia on and stole the shit out of all the headlines. Word is the Knicks are about to lock up former NBA champion, big man Tyson Chandler, in a bit of a surprise move. No one had the Knicks being able to fork up the dough that it would require to sign the 7’1″ center, but the Knicks have been busy all day long. One scenerio has the Knicks sending Chauncy Billups and his $14 million contract to the Dallas Mavericks in a sign and trade deal for Chandler. Others have Billups being amnestied and then the Knicks sending C Ronny Turiaf to the Nuggets in a salary cap move, but I just don’t see the Knicks amnestying Billups, when they can trade him and have his contract bought out, so that he could choose his own team. They have too much respect for Chauncy. Anything could happen at this point but it’s guaranteed that something WOULD have to happen to make this move work financially.
One thing is all but certain right now, Tyson Chandler will join the New York Knicks this season and I couldn’t be any happier. It’s time to bring back the late 90′s physical ball back to the Garden that has gone softer than LeBron James’ game in the fourth quarter, for the past 15 years.
Now you ask what the hell, why aren’t the Knicks going after Chris Paul?…..not so fast. Sure, there is basically no realistic chance the Knicks could afford Paul’s contract this season, but CP3 has made it clear that he LOVED playing with Tyson Chandler and wants to reunite with the big man. This could make sense down the line. Mark Stein from ESPN (shocker) started a crazy rumor mentioning a Amare Stoudamire for Chris Paul trade. I cannot see that happening. Amare is the face of this Knicks team and has brought them back from the dead. Sure it makes sense because you have Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler, those 3 can cause havoc in the Eastern conference AND Stat’s knees will be an issues the rest of his career, but right now, a back court of Carmelo-Stat-Chandler can’t be matched by any other team in the NBA.
Oh yeah let’s not forget that the 80-year old Grant Hill has reportedly agreed to sign with the Knicks as well. I actually am big on this move as well. But if these deals goes down, the Knicks will need to bring in another PG, because I am not 100% comfortable handing over the point to Toney Douglas, even though I’m a big TD fan.
Okay onto Chris Paul and what will happen next. Besides the fact that he is pulling a Melo and demanding a trade to the Knicks, his current team, the New Orleans Hornets are in talks with a few teams, attempting to deal Paul and pick up some actual pieces, which the Knicks really can’t offer. According to SI.com the LA Lakers, Houston Rockets and New Orleans Hornets are engaged in 3-way trade talks, in which Chris Paul goes to LA. The only thing holding that up is whether Paul will sign an extension there and the Lakers are attempting to keep Andrew Bynum in LA. Rumors have Gasol heading to Houston. Names that have been linked to New Orleans from Houston are Luis Scola and Kevin Martin. I’d have to think Lamar Odom goes to N.O also. But that is pure speculation. As you can tell, there are still a ton of hurdles in that deal.
Could you imagine Khloe Kardashian and her slutty sisters in New Orleans around Mardi Gras time? As you know Khloe is married to Lamar Odom, so if a deal sends L.O to N.O that would mean some major bead points for the creeps in Nawlins’. Finally the Kardashian’s can flash their titties around and not be filmed or have their names slandered in the news. Then again….that is how they got famous in the first place so I highly doubt they’d care. But it’d just be another reason to slizz-out for them.
I’m sure we’ll hear millions of crazy rumors from midnight tonight (when Free Agency officially starts), up until the NBA season tips off on Christmas day, but for the past few hours, I can’t seem to move my fat ass off the couch and my cell phone.
